SkillsUSA
Sullivan College of Technology and Design SkillsUSA Chapter had received a $10,000 service learning grant through the national SkillsUSA organization and Lowe’s. The grant will provide materials and supplies for further projects at the Center of Hope, a shelter sponsored by the Salvation Army.
Computer Graphic Design Students Bring Home Gold and Silver
Computer Graphic Design students attended the annual Louie Award Gala, a local competition sponsored by the Advertising Federation of Louisville. The students listed below submitted their artistic entries and all were awarded either a gold or silver Addy medal. Congratulations to the following students:

- Ryan Smith — Gold Addy, Interactive, CD/DVD
- Tyler Young — Gold Addy, Digitally Enhanced Illustration
- Mustafa Besic — Silver Addy, Non-Traditional Advertising
- Daniel Pape — Silver Addy, Cover, Editorial Design
- Derrin Perry — Silver Addy, Interactive, CD/DVD
- Alicia Phillips — Silver Addy, Consumer or Trade Publication
- Jordan Saffel, Silver Addy, Poster
- Alan Vales — Silver Addy, Illustration
Addy awards are hard to earn and the achievement is recognized as indicating the best work available in advertising. Congratulations to these Computer Graphic Design and Dynamic Web Development students and their instructors! These students will submit their work at the next award level, Addy regional competitions.
Military Friendly School
SCTD has been selected as a Military Friendly School. This honor places us in the top 15% of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide.

President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll

The Sullivan College of Technology & Design recently received notification that it is now a 2008 recipient of the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction. Only about 80 colleges in the nation receive the honor of “with distinction” in 2009. We share the honor with only two other colleges in Kentucky, Berea College and University of the Cumberlands.
ACICS
ACICS designated the Sullivan College of Technology & Design as a 2008 Honor Roll Institution—one of 34 colleges out of over 700 to receive that recognition.
ATEA 2009 Outstanding Technical Program
The
Sullivan College of Technology & Design's Computer Graphic Design program, overseen by Department Chairperson Craig Niemann, has been selected by the
American Technical Education Association (ATEA) as their 2009 Outstanding Technical Program. The award is only given to programs which are exemplary and contribute to the nation’s workforce. Award winners like,
the SCTD, have instruction that is current and cutting edge with involvement in business and industry.
